About Jim Curran

James M. Curran graduated from Rutgers University, Cook College, in 1981 and received his law degree from New York Law School in 1984. After graduating from law school, Jim served as a judicial law clerk to the honorable John E. Bachman in the Superior Court, Law Division, Middlesex County in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He has been practicing law in Middlesex County, NJ, since that time. In 1993, he was approved by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney, and was certified by The National Board of Trial Advocacy as a Civil Trial Specialist in 2003. A member of the New Jersey Bar and the New York Bar, he is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Southern District of New York, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of United States. Jim is also admitted to the U.S. Tax Court. Additionally, he is a member of the Federal Bar Association of New Jersey, The American Bar Association, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The Association of Trial Lawyers of New Jersey, The New Jersey State Bar Association, The New York State Bar Association, The Middlesex County Bar Association, The Middlesex County Trial Lawyers Association, The American Inns of Court – Joseph Halpern Inn, and The American Arbitration Association.

Jim is appointed to serve as an Arbitrator in Middlesex County and Somerset County, and is on the Arbitration Panel for Auto, Contract and Personal Injury and has been a member of the Arbitration Advisory Council for the American Arbitration Association.

He has served as Judge in numerous Moot Court and Mock Trial competitions for Seton Hall Law School, as well as Union County and Middlesex County High Schools. He has served as coach for the Douglas College Mock Trial Team, which won the State Championship in 1996, and the Cook College Mock Trial Team. He also served as a mentor-coach for the national champion East Brunswick High School “We the People” constitutional law team.

Jim has lectured for the Middlesex County Bar Association on the new PIP regulations, for ATLA-NJ on the effective use of medical literature in the cross-examination of defense experts and on uninsured/underinsured motorist claims in New Jersey. He also presented the “Plaintiff Trial Attorney’s Perspective” for the Aetna Property and Casualty Insurance Company Litigation management – Liability Round Table for ATLA-NJ.

On the home front, he is heavily involved in his community of North Brunswick where he coaches Pop Warner football, travel basketball, and founded the Youth Lacrosse Program in North Brunswick as well as coaches lacrosse. In 2001, he received the Youth Advocate Award from the North Brunswick Parks and Recreation Committee.

Jim is an avid Rutgers sports fan, is a member of the Scarlet R Club and a season ticket holder for Rutgers Football and Basketball.
