Accidents on the job can happen in an instant. This can be especially true for those working at construction sites. Most New Jersey employers make use of many kinds of safety measures to avoid such incidents, but an unexpected work injury may still occur. A construction worker in a nearby state was recently injured in a fall.

The incident occurred at the site of a future casino, in which more than 1,000 construction workers are employed. For reasons that are still unclear, the worker somehow fell down an elevator shaft on the premises. This happened shortly after he arrived for his early morning shift. Few further details were released about the incident.

Officials report that the worker was conscious and alert following the fall. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released at this time. A spokesperson from the site stated that this was the first significant injury a worker has suffered at the construction site.

When someone is hurt on the job, he or she may choose to file for a claim for workers’ compensation. If the claim is successful, a claimant may then be awarded monetary benefits that could be used to help pay for medical bills or lost wages. Anyone who has suffered a work injury could contact an experienced New Jersey workers’ compensation attorney to learn more. In addition to providing more information, an attorney could also assist in filing a claim and representing at any workers’ comp hearings.
