A car accident can happen in grocery store parking lots

| May 15, 2019 | Car Accidents

Grocery store parking lots can be hazardous places. With so many cars and pedestrians coming and going it can feel like game of bumper cars. One should take special care when driving in a grocery store parking lot in order to avoid a possible car accident. Failure to do so in a New Jersey grocery store parking lot may have led to a pedestrian’s death.

According to police reports an older woman, 71, was struck by a vehicle as it was leaving the supermarket. The woman was seriously injured and was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark. She later died as a result of her injuries.

The accident occurred about 8:30 on a recent morning. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperating with the authorities. It is not known if speed was a factor in the accident. Police are looking for witnesses to the accident and the incident itself remains under investigation.

People go to the supermarket and other shops every day and no one expects such a trip to be one’s last. When a loved one is lost in such a sudden and shocking way, it can be devastating to the people left behind. Nothing can turn back time and undo a tragic car accident. A person who is dealing with such a sudden and devastating loss in New Jersey may wish to consult with a personal injury attorney. A lawyer can review the facts of the accident and help the client to determine if a civil lawsuit against the party deemed responsible is a viable option.
