6 People Killed in Multiple Accidents in New Jersey

Reports say that six people died in four accidents on Aug. 27 in New Jersey. The accidents involved highway workers, a motorcycle and semi-trucks.

According to state police, the first car accident took place at about 1:20 a.m. on the Garden State Parkway in Aberdeen when a Ford Explorer, driven by a 21-year-old man, crashed into a construction site. A 45-year-old man who had been working on the site was killed and another 60-year-old male construction worker was injured. The Explorer had crossed from the middle lane of the northbound side to the right lane, crashing into the construction workers and another vehicle.

Another accident took place at about 10:35 a.m. on I-280 in East Orange when a dump truck crashed into a Honda sedan carrying three people. The Honda was pushed into five other vehicles from the impact and burst into flames, killing all three people inside. Police are investigating a possible mechanical malfunction. The driver of the truck and three other people involved in the accident were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries. About 90 minutes later and less than a mile away on I-280, a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500 passenger van crashed into a tractor trailer that was stopped in traffic, which killed the driver of the van.

The fourth accident took place about 11:30 a.m. when a 21-year-old man riding a motorcycle struck an International flatbed truck on I-80 near Exit 42. The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene at about noon.

After a serious car crash, victims might choose to file personal injury claims to recover damages resulting from the wreck. Economic damages like lost wages and medical care costs could be recuperated through a claim. Noneconomic damages such as pain and suffering could also be recovered in some cases.
